An Overview Of Product Source Options |
- C-Store Distributor
Either a distributor, or retailer that buys from a distributor, that sells a limited line of products, i.e., beverages. The products are usually delivered to the retail outlet as part of a regularly scheduled route. A retailer may buy different products from multiple distributors.
- Wholesaler
Either a wholesaler, a retailer that buys from a wholesaler, or a retailer-owned distribution center that generally distributes a wide range of food and beverage products. A retailer generally has one wholesale supplier, but may also buy product(s) from DSD distributors
- Re-distributor
Distributors that purchase products in truckload quantities and then supply other wholesalers and distributors that cannot meet the minimum purchase requirements for a variety of suppliers.
- Club Store
Usually membership based. Large Box format, no frills or warehouse look and feel. Will have multiple sales departments that could include automotive, clothing, health and beauty, furniture, sporting goods, outdoor needs as well as a limited assortment or sku count of essential food items. Pricing will be the "Draw" for customers to buy in a Club Store.
